Is hiring Chris Duncan a good idea?

I built this landing page to explore this very question. You already have my resume. Here we'll break down the responsibilities of EPD's Marketing Specialist role and see how I stack up. Can I complete the mission? Can I be a valuable asset to the team? Or am I just a straight-up loser?

Let's find out...

This took me around 4 hours. I made a slight change to the logo, turning the diamond into a “C” for “Commerce.” The top pinned posts introduce visitors to the problem and solution. I used Claude to create a hype reel for “The Professor” and mixed in some attention-grabbing real-life videos with a humorous EPD Commerce spin. Without testimonials, I used client logos for social proof.

I also created a 12-page Instagram strategy proposal for both accounts.

I ran my apparel company COURAJ's Instagram for 4 years.

Landing pages & funnels

I've been building landing pages and funnels for years.

I currently use Cursor or GoHighLevel to build these. This page was built with Cursor using Claude Opus 5.5 and is hosted on Vercel. In the past I've used ClickFunnels, Instapage, Unbounce, Leadpages, WordPress, Shopify, and plenty of others.

Email and Newsletters

Marketing & Sales 101

For COURAJ, I wrote a monthly newsletter featuring a courageous person of the month and created email campaigns for monthly product launches.

At Together Mobile, I used personalized email campaigns to land meetings with marketing executives at Nike, LEGO, Cabela's, American Airlines, Urban Decay, Fossil, PETCO, Orbitz, Avon, Tilly's, ZARA, Columbia Records, and many more.

With AI helping write the newsletters, I could potentially create and schedule them in bulk using HubSpot (or your preferred email platform), making the process much more efficient.

Testimonials

Testimonials are fun.

I enjoy meeting new people and video, so testimonials are naturally fun. I've shot a lot of these for LEADstrike. Here is a testimonial compilation video I made for LEADstrike. On my LEADstrike website there are a lot of video testimonials to see.

Affiliates

I've Run an Affiliate Program and Been an Affiliate Myself.

I ran an affiliate program for LEADstrike using FirstPromoter. I've also earned thousands of dollars from an affiliate link in a paddleboard review video I made.

I even built custom affiliate software for SupaSmart, a side-project software product I created.

My biggest takeaway: Keep affiliates motivated and give them the tools and assets they need to succeed.

Copywriting

The fun stuff.

My favorite book on copywriting is Made to Stick. Two of my favorite principles are avoiding the “Curse of Knowledge” and using analogies to make complex concepts easy to understand.

For example: “EPD is like Stripe for high-risk businesses. The big difference: Stripe is like a politician who only cares about you when you're useful. EPD is like your best friend who'd take a bullet for you.”

Creative

I can be self-sufficient here.

I can handle most creative work myself, if needed. I'm proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, Pixelmator, Affinity Designer, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, InShot, and more. I've also been using Claude more for this type of work whenever I can.

I know cameras, lighting, and audio. I designed all the creative assets for Attack Energy. Click the button to check out my website.

Industry Experience

I am the target market.

I've run ecommerce businesses on Shopify and WooCommerce. I use Stripe for LEADstrike subscriptions. I've built Stripe API integrations for SaaS payment workflows, while also utilizing their webhooks. I once had Shopify boot me off Shopify Payments for fraud disputes. I know this pain. I've used Shopify Payments, Authorize.net, Stripe, PayPal, Square, and more. I understand the target market because I am the target market.

Sales Based Marketing

The goal isn't to be creative. It's to be effective.

I've made my living selling and marketing my own products for over a decade. I approach marketing with one goal: generating sales. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the most effective. A straightforward landing page often outperforms a complicated one. Getting the basics right matters more than being fancy. To me, sales and marketing are one and the same.

Team Player

I love being on a team.

I've worked for myself for the last decade, but I also love being part of a team. I grew up playing baseball and went on to play in college. I understand team dynamics, playing your position, motivating teammates, and sacrificing for a bigger goal. I miss the camaraderie of working toward something together. Joining EPD would give me the opportunity to be part of that again, and that's something I'm genuinely excited about.

On ramp speed

Was that lightning or Chris?

I can get up to speed quickly. I have extensive experience with everything this role requires. I have the skills and know the tools. Once I understand my role and responsibilities and get a chance to dive into the specifics, I can hit the ground running. I'm looking forward to earning the team's trust and proving what I can contribute.
